Computational Science Summer School (CSSS) 2026 Mathematical Modelling in Finance, Medical Science, and Weather Forecast.
The Computational Science Summer School (CSSS) is dedicated to fostering academic and research collaboration among faculty from around the world. It also serves to enhance graduate-level achievements and provides students with an opportunity to present their work in English. This annual school was initiated in 2015 by the Department of Mathematics at Chulalongkorn University, in collaboration with network universities, and rotates across host institutions. The school operates in partnership with the Interdisciplinary Research Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) at Heidelberg University, Germany.
In 2026, the Department of Mathematics at Mahidol University will host the Computational Science Summer School (CSSS 2026), building on its commitment to fostering academic collaboration and enhancing mathematical capabilities. This year's theme is "Mathematical Modelling in Finance, Medical Science, and Weather Forecast." The event will explore critical questions such as: How can models help us navigate volatile financial markets? Can we create predictive models for personalized medical treatments? And how can we improve weather forecasts to save lives in the face of climate change?
This exciting event is organized in partnership with the Interdisciplinary Research Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) at Heidelberg University, Germany, the Center of Excellence in Data Science and Health Sciences at Walailak University, the Center of Excellence in Mathematics at Mahidol University, and a network of leading Thai universities, including Chulalongkorn University, Chiang Mai University, King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, Prince of Songkla University (Pattani Campus) and Silpakorn University
The event is scheduled from March 16-27, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM at the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, Phayathai Campus, Bangkok, Thailand.
The school welcomes faculty members, young researchers, and graduate students from Thailand and other countries. The curriculum is focused on developing advanced computational skills for applications in finance, medical sciences, and weather forecast. Furthermore, the program features a dedicated session for graduate students to present their research, spark discussion and receive feedback from leading experts in the field.
