Assistant Professor Dr. Narumon Changsri Director of the Mathematics Education Research Center and head of research projects under the Center of Excellence in Mathematics, has been selected as a representative from Thailand to the PME International Steering Committee

At the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education (PME), a new PME International Committee (IC) was elected. On this occasion, Assistant Professor Dr. Narumon Changsri, Director of the Mathematics Education Research Center, Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University, and head of research projects under the Center of Excellence in Mathematics, was entrusted by PME members worldwide to serve on the PME International Committee (IC). This marks the second representative from Thailand to hold this position. Previously, Associate Professor Dr. Maitree Inprasit was elected to this position in 2018 and played a key role in pushing for Thailand to be entrusted to host the PME Virtual Meeting Conference in 2020, the PME 44th Conference in 2021, and the PME Regional Conference in 2023.

The appointment of Assistant Professor Dr. Narumon is one of four representatives from seven countries: Thailand, Germany, South Korea, Israel, Brazil, Japan, and Mauritius. The four-year appointment demonstrates the international academic community’s confidence in the potential, knowledge, capabilities, and role of Thai researchers in mathematics education. This achievement is a source of great pride for the Mathematical Education Association and the mathematics education community in Thailand, particularly in the context of driving learning quality and academic development in the 21st century, in which “mathematics education” is a key discipline that plays a key role in the continuous and sustainable development of youth and human resources in thinking skills
